Webinar "The Teacher's Social and Emotional Learning" (module 2)
In the 2nd module I watched a NYU sociologist, Dr. Pedro Noguera, from his unique perspective. At the ways in which schools are influenced by social and economic conditions as well as demographic trends in local, regional, and global context. And if that's all not enough I could put my thoughts down and write about the preoccupations and observations offered there about what teaching does to teachers. And in some ways even more importantly, what are the ways to side step these social and emotional pitfalls? I was also given a video of Sharon Horesh Bergquist "How stress affects your body". Our hard-wired stress response is designed to give us the quick burst of heightened alertness and energy needed to perform our best. But stress isn't all good. When activated too long or too often, stress can damage virtually every part of our body. Sharon Horesh Bergquist gives us a look at what goes on inside our body when we are chronically stressed.
